• Modern and safe techniques specifically for sports therapists;

• Integrated with osteopathic, chiropractic and physiotherapy techniques; 

• Included grades 1-4 mobilizations and grade 5 manipulations;

• Use of muscle energy techniques(MET) for the pelvis, SI, lumbar and thoracic spine;

• Specifically for those working with athletes;

• STAoHK Registered Members will be covered under the Association’s PI Insurance after completion of the course.

Course Content

• The role of the manipulative therapist & appropriate insurance;

• Differentiate between Osteopathy, Chiropractic and Physiotherapy;

• Theory – Motion testing and palpation;

• Principle of leverage and coupled motion;

• Combining leverages;

• Spinal Mechanics / Fryettes law type I and type II;

• Contraindications and red flag pathologies;

• Explanation of HVT, Grade 1-5 mobilizations; 

• Motion testing and palpation;

• Mobilization, muscle energy techniques and manipulative techniques will be demonstrated to the thoracic spine;

• Assessment, mobilization, muscle energy techniques and manipulative techniques will be demonstrated to the lumbar spine;

• Assessment, mobilization, muscle energy techniques and manipulative techniques will be demonstrated to the pelvis and sacroiliac joint. 

• Principles of leverage and coupled motion, combining leverages;

• Combining leverages;

• Recap of Spinal Mechanics / Fryettes law type I and type II; 

• Manipulation techniques demonstrated to the thoracic spine (towel assisted);

• Sitting & Standing thoracic manipulation;

• Sitting Cervical Dorsal Junction(CDJ) manipulation;

• Standing CDJ manipulation;

• Prone CDJ manipulation;

• Thoracic manipulation – Supine AP thrust (Dog): 

• Prone CDJ - 2 variations

• Rib - 1st and 2nd rib thrust

• Rib manipulation – Butterfly springing;

• Rib manipulation – Pelvis assisted;

• Rib manipulation – Prone thrust;

• Lumbar spine manipulative technique

• Lumbar roll with kick-start;

• Chicago roll. 

• SIJ manipulation;

• Pubis-symphysis manipulation - shotgun;

• Category A -  Registered Members and Students Members of STAoHK;

• Category B - Medical and Allied Health Members of STAoHK - physiotherapists, medical doctors, TCM practitioners, chiropractors, osteopaths, etc.. 

• Any qualified professional mentioned above but non-members of STAoHK can enroll too.

• 16 CPD hours for registered members(STAoHK-Reg) of STAoHK; 

• Registered Members will automatically cover under the professional indemnity insurance after completion of the course;

• Students Members MUST apply the techniques under supervision of a qualified practitioner according to the insurance clause;  

• Medical and Allied Health Members please refer to your insurance policy that is proposed by the relevant professional body;
